Connecting Europe Express in Gdańsk

Coming soon in September: during the TRAKO International Railway Fair, we will host the Connecting Europe Express, a special train which will set off on a journey across Europe this autumn to mark the European Year of Rail 2021. Over a period of 36 days, the train will visit 26 countries and cover a distance of 20,000km, connecting countries and people alike. The Connecting Europe Express will visit over 70 cities. In Poland, these will include Cracow, Warsaw and, of course, Gdańsk. The rolling stock for the train’s make-up has been provided by companies from various EU Member States.

The train’s journey is one of the elements of the European Green Deal, which is being implemented in the European Union to support pro-environmental measures. These are promotional activities to increase the interest in rail transport and enable a better understanding of the challenges that European rail is currently facing. It is a promotion of railways—as a powerful agent of social, economic, industrial and pro-environmental change.

The train will visit Gdansk on the day preceding TRAKO – 20 September.

Can I take a tour of the train?
Yes. A mobile exhibition coach will be made available to visitors.
