15,473 trade visitors, more than 600 exhibitors from 20 countries, 20,000 m2 of exhibition space, 800 metres of rolling stock exhibition track, innovative solutions, new technologies, over 30 debates, seminars, conferences, demonstrations and presentations, prestigious awards and numerous product launches. On Friday, 25 September, the AMBEREXPO Exhibition & Convention Centre, Gdańsk, saw the end of TRAKO 2015, the 11th International Railway Fair. Poland’s largest and Europe’s second largest meeting of the rail industry once again solidified its standing and reputation.

TRAKO was attended by more than 600 exhibitors, which is over 100 more than at its previous edition, including the key players in Poland’s domestic railway market—the PKP Group companies, multinationals, such as Bombardier and Vossloh, and the leading Polish rail and tram companies, including private and local government carriers, and technology providers for the railways and rolling stock. The greatest increase in exhibitor numbers was recorded among companies from outside Poland, with Czech exhibitors as one of the largest contingents. National pavilions were presented at TRAKO by Austria, the United Kingdom and the State of Saxony.

The exhibition tracks in Żaglowa Street featured a display of state-of-the-art tram rolling stock, including vehicles from Solaris Bus&Coach and PESA, along with construction machines and equipment. The rolling stock exhibition on the tracks at the Gdańsk Stadion Expo platform was just as impressive. Here, exhibits were presented by Poland’s and Europe’s largest rolling stock manufacturers, including: NEWAG SA, PESA SA, SIEMENS SA, STADLER RAIL GROUP.

TRAKO featured the launch of Dart—Poland’s latest and longest Electric Multiple Unit, dedicated to long-distance journeys, designed by PESA Bydgoszcz for PKP Intercity. PESA also presented a push-pull car, and Przewozy Regionalne Sp. z o. o.—an upgraded EMU. An innovative turnout logistics system—a platform for the transport and unloading of railroad turnouts—was demonstrated by the Bieżanów KZN Rail Surfaces Company.

A Wide-Ranging Agenda
It is TRAKO’s time-honoured tradition to have an extensive agenda of side events: debates, numerous conferences, seminars, demonstrations and company presentations. Already on the pre-TRAKO day, a conference was held on Electromagnetic compatibility in tram transport systems, along with a seminar on the Conditions for placing upgraded and new rolling stock in service, organised by the SIRTS Association for Rail Transport Interoperability and Development and the MTG SA Gdańsk International Fair Co.
